DUCCIO DI BUONONSEGNA, born and raised in Siena roughly between 1255 and 1318, is considered the first master of the Senese painting school of the 14th century.
THE MAJESTY, considered the supreme masterpiece by Duccio, was painted by the artist between 1308 and 1311 and represents one of the most important pre-Renaissance Italian painting.
The Majesty of Duccio was the altarpiece of the Cathedral in Siena and is now preserved in the Opa Museum of Siena.
