THE DAILY PICTURE: “LA MADONNA DEL PERDONO” by DONATELLO

“LA MADONNA DEL PERDONO” (Our Lady of Forgiveness), is a bass relief in marble and blue grass inlays, attributed to DONATELLO and dated 1457-1459.
It was originally located in the old door of forgiveness of the “DUOMO”, the cathedral of Siena.
The door was destroyed in 1660 and substituted by the Bernini chapel called “Cappella della Madonna del Voto”.
This beautiful work by Donatello is inside OPA MUSEUM of Siena.
