BADIA A COLTIBUONO. The special wine of the abbey

THE ABBEY OF “SAN LORENZO A COLTIBUONO” (Gaiole in Chianti, Siena) was founded in 1049 by the family Firidolfi and was ceded to the monks Vallombrosiani in 1115.
In 1810, a royal decree decided the expulsion of the monks and the abbey was sold and later became a farm.
The Winery Badia a Coltibuono has a renowned century-old business founded by their monks in the thirteenth century.
The cellars are located below the cloister of the abbey and produce an excellent wine with an unmistakable taste.

  1. The buildings certainly look like a church, however I think of Rapunzel, or Snow White, or other fairy tales. The wine is probably delicious, my friend Samme would love it. Neither of us are connoisseurs of wine, but do like a good Merlot. Thanks again for the pictures.
